Much can be learned about Akwesasne by simply dropping in to walk through the Akwesasne Cultural Center - Museum on your own. There are videos to watch, text to read, coloring pages for kids, an audio stand with various songs by local artists, and even a small sandbox for fun in the exhibit area that ties in the turtle from Creation to our respect for Mother Earth and the Mohawk culture. An extensive photo collection can be sampled at the touchscreen computer. There are many items to see, with something to appeal to a wide variety of interests. If you book a guided tour, there is an added dimension to the visit. Please book ahead at least a week or two. Our regular hours are 9 am to 4 pm from Monday to Friday, but you can also book a guided tour for Saturdays between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. Call 358-2461 to set up a guided tour, or for more information!
