The Ulster County Clerk’s Archives offers a wide range of educational publications for educators and students. The teaching curriculum titled, “Who’ll Weep For Me,” is a teacher’s guide to the rise of the poorhouse system in Ulster County. This teaching packet highlights a portion of history that is often overlooked in many textbooks – the history of the poor. Students will learn about the history of the Ulster County Poorhouse and how poverty is addressed at an institutional level. This publication will be highlighted on our Facebook page on June 15 with a downloadable link.
